This workshop is ideal for people wanting to practical, low cost strategies they can immediately implement to improve the financial viability and ongoing sustainability of their association.

Attendees will leave with a renewed enthusiasm for dealing with the special challenges presented by running a low resourced association, some great ideas, and new friends who share the same boat as them.

In this workshop Belinda will share:

  • a step-by-step process for turning around a small association,
  • the key challenges that need to be overcome to ensure the success of this process,
  • the critical successful factors that contribute to a successful outcome,
  • how to leverage off the few resources available to small associations as effectively as possible,
  • how to quickly build a successful sponsorship program to assist in funding the turnaround,
  • strategies for growing members organically to minimise staff efforts,
  • how to work with volunteers to maximise their efforts and reduce burnout,
  • how to build prospect and member networks in a low resource environment, and
  • much, much more.

Delegates will be offered ample opportunity to ask questions and engage with other delegates to exchange ideas and information.

The Presenter

Belinda Moore is Australasia’s foremost membership specialist and has assisted thousands of membership based not-for-profit organisations with their challenges. She specialises in training, motivating and up-skilling boards, staff and volunteers to improve membership performance.

She is the author of two books and the popular paper “Membership is Dead?” which forecasts future trends for member based organisations. Late last year she released a free online guide called The Membership Managers Handbook. Belinda has worked with professional associations, industry associations, community organisations, charities and other not-for-profit organisations to assist them to powerfully improve their organisational sustainability, membership growth, and other income streams.

In 2015 Belinda completed a two-year project to successfully turnaround the Australasian Society of Association Executives. Over that time, Belinda took the organisation from just over 100 members to 876 financial members and built a community of over 10,000 subscribers. When Belinda started at AuSAE their turnover was just over $40,000 per annum and there was no staff support. When Belinda left the association in April 2015 it was on track for a turnover of around 1 million dollars and had 6 full time staff working in the organisation.

“I have been a participant at two talks by Belinda Moore. I found Belinda’s subject matter expertise, delivery, and preparation excellent and well worth the time spent listening. Importantly everything shared was relevant and a valuable learning exercise for me.” Glen Stanaway, Sport Services Manager at Yachting Australia
